Soundswell

We are delighted to inform you that we have made the decision to continue to employ a Soundswell Speech and Language Therapist at Nursery, on a part-time basis, for this academic year.

Our therapist, Abi Varley, has a wide range of experience, having successfully worked with young children for a number of years. Abi will be working in the classrooms alongside staff to develop the communication opportunities and skills of all our children. She will support staff with carrying out universal screening of speech and language skills and provide support for the delivery of interventions such as through the provision of advice and delivery of groups. Abi will help staff to improve the children’s receptive and expressive language skills, through training, advice, general strategies and modelling of activities.

Our aim is to support children, whose language skills are developing below their expected age range, helping them to improve and further develop this important life skill. We would also like to build upon all children’s existing language skills, in order for all children to achieve their best.

All sessions will be nursery-based, usually within an area of the classroom, and usually alongside a member of staff. Abi has a full DBS and is cleared and trusted to work with children.

Should you have any queries or questions, Abi, or another member of the team, will be more than happy to help and talk with you. We feel Abi is an asset to our setting for this academic year and is happy to offer any advice to you as parents/carers.
